The Basement.
toilet paper, wire, canvas - 60"x36"
Upon arriving in New York, Liset and family lived in a basement where a portion of the ceilings piping was undesirably exposed. As an adolescent, during a New Year's Eve celebration, she felt compelled to cover the entire exposed piping system with toilet paper in order to embellish the party area with a make belief indoor snow scene. The wire spiral is symbolic of the beginning of her spiraled (life) journey in the United States.
